An Antique Victorian Oak Swivel Captain’s Chair
This antique Victorian captain’s chair is made of oak and mounted on a swivel base. It has a curved, rounded top rail that flows down into outward-scrolling arms with rounded terminals. The back is set with two pierced vertical splats, each cut with an openwork design, and the shaped circular seat is supported by four splayed legs. On the underside, a metal swivel fitting is secured to the seat and the legs are fixed with metal straps and rivets.
Condition, Originality and Collector Appeal
The chair shows wear consistent with its age and use. The dark finish has worn in places, with lighter patches, scuffing and marks to the seat and arms, and some flaking to the finish on the legs. The metal swivel fitting and rivets are present on the underside. The original form, pierced splat detailing and visible patina will appeal to collectors seeking antique oak seating with a swivel action. Prospective buyers are advised to inspect the swivel action in person before bidding.

#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
