Antique Victorian Campaign Writing Slope

This is a 19th-century military campaign writing slope, dating to 1881 and engraved with the name ‘James Banbury’. The desk features a roll-top design, opening to reveal a fitted interior with compartments for pens and writing implements, and a green baize writing surface. The exterior is constructed from wood with brass fittings and a locking mechanism, designed for portability and use in the field.

Condition and Collectibility

The writing slope shows signs of age and use, with wear to the wood and baize consistent with its age. The locking mechanism may not be functional, and the overall condition reflects a well-used antique. This piece would appeal to collectors of military memorabilia, antique desks, or those interested in Victorian-era writing equipment, offering a glimpse into the past and a unique decorative item.
