Arita Imari Bowl
This late 19th to early 20th century bowl exemplifies the artistry of Arita Imari porcelain production during the Meiji era. The bowl features a vibrant palette of red, blue, and green, characteristic of Imari ware. The design incorporates a central motif of a bird amongst orange blossoms, surrounded by panels depicting landscapes and geometric patterns. The intricate detailing and balanced composition showcase the skill of the artisan.
Condition
This bowl is offered ‘as found’ and exhibits signs of age and wear consistent with its antique status. Notably, the bowl has a crack running through the center, as visible in the images. Despite this damage, the bowl retains its aesthetic appeal and presents a unique opportunity for collectors of Japanese porcelain or those interested in restoring a piece of history. The vibrant colours and detailed design continue to make it a visually striking piece.
