Arts and Crafts Hand Hammered Dishes
This collection comprises four hand-hammered dishes, three crafted from copper and one from brass. The dishes exhibit the characteristic organic forms and textured surfaces associated with the Arts and Crafts movement. The irregular, slightly raised rims and the visible hammer marks demonstrate the hand-wrought nature of these pieces, suggesting a possible connection to the work of Norman and Ernest Spittale, known for their metalwork during this period. The varying sizes and subtle differences in form add to their individual character.
Condition and Collectibility
These dishes show signs of age and use, with some patina and minor imperfections consistent with their age. The copper dishes display varying degrees of oxidation, adding to their antique appeal. These pieces would be of interest to collectors of Arts and Crafts metalwork, particularly those seeking examples potentially attributed to the Spittale brothers. Their hand-wrought quality and unique forms make them desirable additions to a collection or decorative accents for a period-inspired interior.
