Bank of England Britannia Commemorative Dish

This circular silver dish was commissioned by the Bank of England to commemorate 300 years since its founding on July 27th, 1694. The dish is crafted in 95.8% sterling silver and features a central depiction of Britannia, a classic symbol of British identity. The design is embellished with a laurel wreath surrounding the central motif, and the dates ‘1694’ and ‘1994’ are prominently displayed. The dish weighs 60g and is a fine example of commemorative silverware.

Condition and Collectibility

This dish presents well, with a good level of detail remaining in the Britannia figure and laurel wreath. While showing some signs of age and handling consistent with its age, it remains a desirable piece for collectors of British commemorative silverware or those interested in the history of the Bank of England. The dish’s limited production and historical significance make it a unique addition to any collection.
