Mid Century Bentima Mantle Clock
This mid century mantle clock was made by Bentima, a British clock manufacturer known for affordable, well-designed timepieces during the 1950s and 1960s. The rectangular case is veneered in a warm walnut-effect finish with fine inlaid lines running down each side. Two ornate brass rosette mounts sit on either side of the dial, and the raised wooden plinth base adds a streamlined, sculptural profile. The silver-toned dial has a brass bezel, a blue-centred inner disc, bold black Roman numerals and slim blued hands, which together give the piece a distinctly mid century character.
Condition and Collector Appeal
The case shows the expected signs of age, with some light surface marks and minor wear to the veneer, particularly along the edges and base. The dial appears clean and the numerals are clear, and the brass fittings retain a pleasing patina. The movement has not been tested, so prospective buyers should satisfy themselves as to its mechanical condition before bidding.
