Two Black and Decker Workmates Folding Workbenches
This lot comprises two Black and Decker Workmates, the folding workbenches that became a familiar fixture in British workshops and garages. The example in front is marked Workmate 600 on its lower body. Each bench features a pair of timber battens with rows of drilled holes along their length, allowing work to be secured using pegs, and orange plastic clamping jaws at the ends. The steel frame is finished in black, with folding legs that fold flat for storage, and a lower shelf with perforations for holding tools. The second bench has a blue-painted frame, which is visible behind the first.
Condition and Collectability
Both benches show signs of use consistent with their age. The timber battens carry scuffs, marks and areas of surface wear, and there is paint loss to the frames. Some original labelling and fittings remain in place, and the orange jaws are present on the front bench. Interest in the Workmate lies in its distinctive design, which has changed little over the decades, making it of appeal to DIY enthusiasts, woodworkers and collectors of classic tool design. Buyers looking for a pair of benches for restoration or practical workshop use may find this lot of interest.

Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.
#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
