Ceramic Blackbird Pie Funnels
This collection features six charming ceramic pie funnels, each sculpted in the form of a blackbird. These funnels were designed to fit into a pie crust, allowing steam to escape during baking and prevent soggy bottoms. The blackbirds are beautifully glazed in a glossy black, with bright yellow beaks and feet, adding a touch of whimsy to any kitchen. These pieces represent a delightful blend of functionality and decorative art, typical of mid-century kitchenware.
Condition and Collectibility
These pie funnels exhibit signs of age and use, with some minor crazing to the glaze consistent with their vintage. Despite this, they remain structurally sound and visually appealing. Collectors of vintage kitchenalia and bird figurines will appreciate the unique character and nostalgic charm of these pieces. They would make a wonderful addition to a display or could still be used for their intended purpose, adding a touch of retro style to baking.
