Pixie and Toadstool Door Knocker
This charming door knocker depicts a pixie seated atop a large toadstool. Crafted from solid brass, the piece exhibits a delightful whimsical style, likely originating from a mid-century aesthetic. The detailing on the pixie’s face and the textured cap of the toadstool demonstrate a skilled hand in casting and finishing. This knocker would have been affixed to a door using a mounting post on the reverse, allowing the pixie to strike against the toadstool when the door is knocked.
Condition and Collectibility
The brass door knocker presents with a lovely aged patina, indicative of its age and use. There are minor surface scratches and wear consistent with handling and display, but no significant damage is apparent. This piece would appeal to collectors of antique brassware, garden ornaments, or those with an affinity for fantasy and whimsical decor. Its unique design and quality craftsmanship make it a desirable addition to any home.
