WW2 British Tabby Type E Night Vision Binoculars
These are a pair of British Army WW2 Tabby Type E night vision binoculars, designed for use in low-light conditions. The Type E model, introduced in 1942, utilises an infrared projection system, requiring an external infrared light source (not included) to function. These binoculars feature a robust construction, with a canvas-covered body and adjustable eyepieces, and were a crucial piece of equipment for British troops during night operations.
Condition and Collectibility
These binoculars exhibit signs of age and service use, with wear and deterioration to the canvas covering and some corrosion to metal components. The optics show expected clouding and imperfections consistent with their age. Despite this, they remain a fascinating example of early night vision technology and a desirable item for collectors of military equipment and vintage optics. They offer a unique glimpse into the technological advancements of the Second World War.
