Collection of WWI British Army Photographs
This collection comprises a fascinating assortment of early 20th-century photographs documenting life within the British Army, particularly focusing on the 17th Lancers, famously known as the “Death or Glory Boys.” The images depict scenes from India, including locations like Ambala and Kasauli, showcasing officers, native soldiers, and a musketry squad. The photographs offer a glimpse into the daily routines, training exercises, and social life of the British forces stationed in India during the First World War era.
Condition and Collectability
The photographs exhibit the expected signs of age and handling, with some showing edge wear, minor creases, and fading consistent with their age. Despite these imperfections, the images remain largely clear and retain their historical integrity. This collection would be of particular interest to collectors of military history, ephemera, and photographs, offering a unique visual record of the 17th Lancers and British Army life in India during WWI.
