Cast Iron Desktop Cannon
This lot is a cast iron desktop cannon, offered as a decorative miniature of a field gun. It is mounted on a carriage with two spoked wheels, and the trail is fitted with a rounded finial at its rear end.
The barrel is cast with raised bands and a reinforced breech end, and the muzzle is open. Two small pegs project from the upper surface towards the rear of the barrel. The carriage is formed from cast iron, with spoked wheels and a central axle, and the overall construction is solid and sturdy. No maker’s name or marks are evident.
Condition and Collector Interest
The cast iron has a dark, aged patina with areas of greenish discolouration and some surface wear. These signs are consistent with age and handling, and they contribute to the piece’s character. The surface shows no obvious repairs.
The cannon will appeal to collectors of militaria, desktop curios and cast iron ornaments. Its traditional form and substantial build make it a striking display piece for a study, library or mantelpiece. Prospective buyers are welcome to contact us with any questions before the sale.

Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.
#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
