Description
This is a cast iron doorstop depicting a puppeteer. The figure is intricately detailed, showing a man with a distinctive beard and hat, holding strings presumably connected to puppets. The piece is heavy, indicative of its cast iron construction, and features a dark patina consistent with age and use. It’s a charming example of early 20th-century decorative ironwork, likely intended to hold doors open in a home or business setting.
Condition
The doorstop exhibits signs of age and wear, including surface rust and some loss of paint. Despite this, the structural integrity remains sound, and the detail of the figure is still clearly visible. This piece would appeal to collectors of cast iron, antique doorstops, or those interested in folk art and decorative objects. The patina adds to its character and authenticity.
