Small Cast-Iron Pedestal Bird Bath with Scalloped Rim
This small cast-iron pedestal bird bath offers a traditional touch to any garden border, patio or lawn. It is formed from a shallow, oval-style basin supported on a turned baluster column and a circular openwork base. Its robust construction and classic proportions make it a charming feature for those who appreciate heritage garden ornaments. Its form suggests a Victorian or Edwardian inspiration, although no maker’s marks are visible in the photographs.
Weathered Condition with Genuine Age Character
The bird bath shows clear signs of outdoor use, with an overall patina of rust, flaking surface finish and areas of wear to the scalloped rim and basin. The base and column remain structurally sound as far as can be judged from the photographs, but the piece should be regarded as a decorative garden item rather than a functioning article. The original surface character is an important part of its appeal, as untouched weathering of this kind is often valued by collectors of garden antiques and rustic ironwork. It would suit a buyer looking for an authentic piece to restore, display in a weathered garden setting, or use as a planter stand.
