Three Stacked Wooden Wine Crates from Bordeaux Estates
This lot comprises three wooden wine crates, stacked and presented together, each bearing the printed livery of a Bordeaux château. The uppermost crate is marked Chateau Batailley, Pauillac, Grand Cru Classe, 2011, and states 12 x 750 ml. The middle crate is marked Chateau Beychevelle, 2005, and 12 Billes. The lowest crate is marked Chateau Brane-Cantenac, Margaux, 2011, and 12 Biles CRD, with the wording Grand Cru Classe en 1855 printed above the château name. Each crate is made from pale softwood with dovetailed corners and carries engraved or printed artwork, including an illustration of the Chateau Batailley residence and a Viking longship motif for Chateau Beychevelle.
Presentation and Collectable Interest
The crates show general signs of age and handling, including a torn paper label remnant on the top crate and a further label fragment on the middle crate. Some surface marks and wear are visible to the timber, and a stencilled reference appears on the side of the middle crate. The lot is offered as seen. Its interest lies in the printed château branding, the variety of vintages and classed growth associations represented, and the appeal of original wooden packaging to collectors of Bordeaux memorabilia, display pieces, and vintage wine enthusiasts.
