Historical Spanish Sword
This is a vintage Spanish sword, potentially a Colada del Cid style blade, exhibiting characteristics of traditional Spanish sword-making. The blade features a pronounced fuller and a ricasso, suggesting its use in both cutting and thrusting techniques. The hilt displays a classic Spanish style with a complex guard, designed to protect the hand during combat. The overall construction suggests a blade intended for military or dueling purposes, reflecting the rich history of Spanish sword-making traditions.
Condition and Collectibility
This sword is offered in antique, ‘as found’ condition, exhibiting signs of age and wear consistent with its historical period. There is evidence of patina, possible corrosion, and wear to the hilt and blade. Despite its condition, this sword presents a unique opportunity for collectors of antique weaponry, historical reenactors, or those interested in Spanish history. The sword’s age and style make it a desirable piece for display or further research.
