Five Corgi Chipperfields Circus Vehicles
This lot brings together five diecast models from the Corgi Chipperfields Circus range, a popular theme among collectors of 1960s and 1970s British model vehicles. The group includes a red crane truck with a grey lattice jib and hook, a blue and red horsebox, a red and cream animal cage trailer with a tan animal figure inside, a red Land Rover with a yellow-jacketed ringmaster figure and loudhailers, and a red and yellow Land Rover breakdown vehicle with a rear hook. Corgi’s bright circus livery, with “Chipperfields Circus” lettering across the bodywork, gives the set a strong period character. The details, including opening cage doors, a rear-mounted crane and figures, show the level of play value Corgi built into its toys of the era.
Played-With Condition and Collectable Appeal
The models show clear signs of use, with paint chipping and wear to edges, scuffing to the wheels and some general handling marks. The crane jib appears slightly lighter in tone than the rest of the body, which is typical of play-worn examples. A loose yellow section is also included, although it is not clear from the photograph whether it belongs to one of the vehicles shown. Buyers should view the lot as a group of vintage play-worn models rather than mint examples. Even so, the bold Chipperfields branding and the variety of vehicles make this a worthwhile lot for collectors of Corgi circus sets, or for anyone looking to restore or display a characterful group of 1960s and 1970s diecast toys.
