Cut Glass Wine Jug with Silverplate Shell Dish
This lot comprises a cut glass wine jug mounted with silverplate fittings, presented alongside a silverplate shell dish. The jug has a textured cut glass body with a bulbous lower section and a tapering neck, topped with a domed silverplate lid finished with a finial and a small spout. A scrolled silverplate handle with foliate detailing is fitted to the side. The shell dish is formed of three scallop-shaped bowls arranged around a central silverplate support, with fluted and ribbed detailing to each shell. The two pieces together suggest a traditional serving arrangement for the dining table.
Condition and Collector Interest
The silverplate elements show general surface wear, with some toning and light marking to the shell bowls and the fittings to the jug. Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.
#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
