Box of Denby Stoneware and Porcelain Tea Ware
This lot comprises a box of Denby stoneware and porcelain tea ware, with further ceramic pieces packed in a second box. The Denby pieces include plates with a muted grey-mauve glaze and a stylised floral motif, and grey mugs with blue banding to the rims. The second box contains white porcelain cups and saucers, one saucer decorated with pink, orange and blue flowers and a gilt rim. The lower box holds rose-decorated white ceramic pieces, a red and white fruit-form ornament, and a number of items still wrapped in tissue paper.
Condition and Collectability
Many of the pieces appear to be packed in their original tissue paper and card dividers, which may suggest they have been stored since being acquired. Some of the cups show marks to their interiors, and the condition of individual pieces should be checked on viewing, as the lot has not been individually examined for completeness or function. The mix of Denby stoneware, floral porcelain and decorative ceramics may appeal to collectors of mid-century and later British tableware, or to buyers looking to build or extend a tea service.
