Make, Style and Notable Features
The unit is finished in a cream and brown colourway with chrome-effect trim and a hinged lid with a dark interior. The turntable is fitted with a Garrard auto-return arm assembly, with a manual and auto selector switch to the front. Control knobs are positioned to the right of the deck, and two detachable speakers, each bearing the Denon name, sit to the rear. The turntable is described as solid state. A carrying handle is fitted to the case, which is designed for portable use.
Condition, Originality and Collector Interest
The case shows general wear consistent with age, including scuffs and marks to the outer shell and trim. The original cardboard box is worn, with creasing, edge damage and staining, and the card sides show printed branding and handling marks. The operating instructions are included, and the speakers are present. This lot is sold as seen, and no guarantee of working order is given. Its original packaging, printed literature and Denon branding may appeal to collectors of vintage portable audio equipment and to those interested in 1960s and 1970s Japanese electronics.
