Vintage Dinky Toys 105 Captain Scarlet Maximum Security Vehicle
This Dinky Toys 105 Maximum Security Vehicle is a die-cast model inspired by the Supermarionation series Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. Manufactured by Meccano Ltd in England under licence for Century 21 Toys Ltd, it captures the futuristic styling of the programme’s Spectrum hardware. The model is finished in cream with a dark blue flash and red side stripes, and its long, low body has a raised central section. A rotating aerial sits on the roof, and a red rear ramp folds down to reveal the cargo area, with the vehicle’s characteristic Spectrum insignia applied to the flanks. Chunky grey wheels and a red underside complete the design, which is typical of Dinky’s 1960s output.
Condition, Originality and Collector Appeal
The model shows age-related wear consistent with a played-with vintage toy. The cream paintwork has chipping and scuffing, particularly along the front nose, the lower body edges and the rear, and there is general grime and handling marks across the surfaces. The aerial, ramp and wheels are present, and the red chassis carries some marks and small scratches, as seen in the underside view. A small radioactive crate accessory is shown alongside the vehicle. The lot is offered with box, as described in the listing, and the box is not illustrated in the photographs. Original Dinky Toys 105 models with their packaging are sought after by Captain Scarlet enthusiasms and vintage Dinky collectors, so this example will appeal to those wanting an authentic piece of 1960s British television merchandise, with its period character and markings intact.
