Vintage Dinky Toys Military Lot Comprising an Armoured Command Vehicle and Three Artillery Guns
This lot offers four die-cast military models by Dinky Toys, the British manufacturer known for its post-war model vehicles. The group comprises an olive green Armoured Command Vehicle, which appears to correspond to the box numbered 677, and three artillery pieces finished in matching olive green. The guns are mounted on rubber-tyred wheels and fitted with towing eyes at the trail ends, reflecting the military styling typical of the Dinky Toys range. Two of the guns have boxes that refer to a 25-pounder field gun and a howitzer, with the latter bearing the number 693. The vehicle features a boxy superstructure with six wheels and a detailed body moulded to represent a military command vehicle.
Condition and Collector Appeal of the Dinky Toys Military Models
The models show general wear consistent with their age, including minor marks and paint wear, and a paper label is visible on the side of the command vehicle. Three of the original yellow boxes are present, numbered 677, 686 and 693, with a fourth box partly obscured in the group. The boxes show edge wear, tears and surface marks, and the 677 box carries a handwritten pencil note. The lot may appeal to collectors of mid-century British die-cast military models, particularly those seeking boxed examples of Dinky Toys artillery and command vehicles. As a group of related military models, it offers a cohesive collection for display or further study.
