Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany Tub Chair
This Edwardian-style tub chair is offered as a single lot, numbered 1239. It is a low armchair with a curved, horseshoe-shaped backrest that wraps around the seat and sits on turned front legs.
The frame appears to be mahogany and is decorated with light stringing and inlaid detailing along the arms and the front of the seat rail. The upper back rail is pierced and carved with scrolling foliage, with a central shield-shaped cartouche set into the centre. The arms are upholstered and return to carved terminals, and the front legs are turned and fitted with castors. The overall style reflects the decorative taste of the Edwardian period.
Condition and Collector Interest
The upholstery is in worn condition, with visible marks, soiling and general signs of age across the seat, back and arms. The wooden frame shows the wear expected of a chair of this age, and the castors and inlay should be examined in person. The chair is offered as seen, and prospective buyers are encouraged to inspect it before the sale. Its original carved and inlaid woodwork, along with its horseshoe back and period style, may appeal to collectors of Edwardian furniture or those seeking a characterful piece for restoration.
