Framed Signed Watercolour of Sailing Boats in Dock
This framed watercolour depicts sailing boats moored in a dock, and is signed F Fulize as noted in the lot description. The painting uses a soft, muted palette of pinks, ochres and pale blues, with a large sail carrying a yellow panel rising beside two masts. Smaller vessels and a rowing boat sit on the calm water, and their reflections are picked out in loose, fluid strokes. The picture is set in a gilt-finish wooden frame with a beaded inner edge, behind a cream mount with a double-line inner border.
Condition and Collector Appeal
The watercolour shows some light speckling and a faint mark near the top of the mount, and the gilt frame displays general wear consistent with its age. The frame and mount appear to be original to the piece, though this cannot be confirmed. The traditional harbour subject and the soft, atmospheric handling will appeal to collectors of marine and maritime art, as well as buyers looking for a characterful framed piece for a hallway, study or dining room.
