Antique Field Medical Sterilizer

This antique field medical sterilizer appears to be a portable unit designed for disinfecting surgical instruments in a field setting. The unit features a metal tray with a perforated upper section for steam sterilization, and a lower reservoir for water. A large syringe is included, likely for irrigation or administering fluids. The construction suggests a robust and practical design intended for use in challenging conditions, possibly dating to the early to mid 20th century.

Condition and Collectibility

The sterilizer exhibits signs of age and use, with some surface corrosion and wear consistent with its age. The syringe shows similar wear. While the functionality is not assessed, this piece would be of interest to collectors of medical antiques, historical medical equipment, or those interested in the history of field surgery. It presents a fascinating glimpse into medical practices of the past.
