Galileo Thermometers
This lot comprises four Galileo thermometers, each featuring a sealed glass tube filled with a clear liquid and several coloured glass bulbs of varying densities. These thermometers are believed to be German made, and operate on the principle that changes in temperature affect the density of the liquid, causing the bulbs to rise and fall, indicating the approximate temperature. The coloured bulbs add a decorative element to these functional scientific instruments.
Condition & Collectibility
These Galileo thermometers appear to be in their original condition, with some minor wear consistent with age and use. While the functionality cannot be confirmed, they present well and would be a fascinating addition to a collection of scientific instruments, vintage décor, or as a unique display piece. Collectors and enthusiasts of antique scientific tools may find these particularly appealing.
