Box of Framed Miniature Artworks, Prints and Silhouettes
This lot comprises a box of assorted framed pictures, including miniature artworks, prints and silhouettes. The group offers a varied selection of subjects and framing styles, with pieces presented in gilt, silver-tone, dark-stained wood and ebonised frames. Subjects visible include a costumed female figure in an oval silver-tone frame, a genre interior scene, a pencil study of an elderly man, several black silhouette profiles, a small glass-fronted female portrait and a framed ship print. Frame finishes and sizes vary across the lot.
Condition and Collector Appeal
The pictures are offered as a mixed group and are sold as seen. Condition varies between pieces, and some frames show visible wear, chipping or surface marks, particularly the gilt example bearing a portrait of a seated woman. Backings, glazing and inner mounts have not been examined in detail and are not described here. The variety of pieces makes this lot of interest to collectors of silhouettes, decorative prints and small framed portraits, as well as to buyers looking to assemble a gallery wall or source frames for restoration or reuse.
