Framed Pencil Sketch of a Cathedral Interior
This lot is a framed pencil sketch depicting the interior of a cathedral, viewed down the length of its nave towards the chancel. The drawing is set within a slim black frame with a pale cream mount, which frames the image neatly.
The composition is rendered in grey pencil with fine, controlled linework. Pointed Gothic arches rise on slender columns to a vaulted ceiling, with exposed timber roof trusses visible above. A tall traceried window sits at the far end of the nave, and a cross and altar area can be seen beneath it. Architectural detail is shown throughout, including arcading along the side walls and the pale floor in the foreground.
Condition and Collector Appeal
The sketch and mount appear to be in presentable condition, and the frame is clean with no obvious damage visible in the image. No signature is visible on the artwork as shown. The subject, a Gothic cathedral interior drawn in pencil, will appeal to collectors of architectural studies, church and ecclesiastical art, and those who enjoy hand-drawn representations of historic buildings.
