Antique Framed Watercolour Still Life of Chrysanthemums
This framed watercolour still life, dating from the turn of the century, depicts a bouquet of chrysanthemums and other blooms arranged in a green jug beside a small blue and white two-handled vessel. The flowers include red, white, apricot and pink blossoms, set against a soft grey-green backdrop and a draped blue cloth. The painting is signed to the lower right. It is presented behind a gold mount within a carved gilt frame with a repeating arch and bead border.
Condition and Collectability
The gilt frame shows wear to its finish consistent with its age. The watercolour appears clearly defined, with its floral forms and blue drapery still legible. Buyers interested in turn of the century floral still life subjects, signed watercolours or period gilt frames may find this an appealing example.
