French Gras M1874 Bayonet Knife
This item appears to be a modified French Gras M1874 bayonet that has been cut down and converted into a fighting knife. The bayonet features a single-edged blade with a pronounced Y-shaped groove, typical of the Gras bayonet design. The grip is constructed of wood and secured with rivets. The blade shows signs of sharpening and modification, suggesting it was intended for use as a standalone knife rather than attached to a rifle.
Condition and Collectibility
The bayonet knife exhibits signs of age and wear consistent with its military history and potential use. The wood grip shows some wear and minor cracks, and the blade displays patina and evidence of sharpening. While modified from its original form, this piece may appeal to collectors of military knives, French military history, or bayonet conversions. It presents a unique example of a repurposed military item.
