French Model 1886 Tulle Arsenal Bayonet
This is a French Model 1886 bayonet, manufactured at the Tulle Arsenal. This bayonet is a classic example of French military equipment from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, designed for use with the Lebel Model 1886 rifle. The bayonet features a fullers blade, a distinctive quillon guard, and a wooden grip. The serial number R47376 is visible on the spine of the blade, indicating a production date of late 1915-1918.
Condition and Collectibility
The bayonet exhibits signs of age and service, with some patina and wear consistent with its age. The blade shows some staining, and the wooden grip has minor wear. The bayonet retains its original markings and construction, making it a desirable piece for collectors of military edged weapons. This example offers a glimpse into the equipment used during the First World War and would be a valuable addition to any collection.
