Garden Hammock with Wooden Spreader Bar
This lot comprises a garden hammock of knotted cream rope netting, gathered and bundled around a timber spreader bar. The netting has a macramé-style construction with regularly spaced knots, several of which are picked out with small red markings. The bundle is secured with a length of teal twine. The bar is a plain, light-toned wooden batten, and the overall form suggests a traditional rope hammock design intended for suspension between two fixed points in a garden or outdoor setting.
Condition and Collector Interest
The hammock is presented in its gathered state and has not been laid out, so its full extent, overall condition and whether all sections of netting and fittings are present cannot be confirmed from the lot as offered. The rope shows general signs of wear consistent with its age and storage, and the teal twine appears to be a later addition used to hold the bundle together. Buyers interested in traditional rope garden furniture, or in restoring an older hammock to use, may find this an attractive project. Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. #### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
