Victorian Miniature Portrait Case
This antique case houses a delicate watercolour miniature portrait of a young lady, likely dating from the Victorian or Georgian period. The case itself is constructed from leather and features three sections, with the central section displaying the portrait behind glass. The portrait is framed by an ornate gilt frame, adding to the piece’s elegance and historical charm. The case would have originally been used to protect and display treasured miniature portraits, often carried as a personal keepsake or travel memento.
Condition and Collectibility
The case shows signs of age and wear, consistent with its antique status. There are some areas of wear to the leather and minor imperfections to the gilt frame, which contribute to its character. This piece would appeal to collectors of miniatures, antique cases, or Victorian/Georgian memorabilia. The combination of the delicate portrait and the beautifully crafted case makes it a unique and desirable item.
