Framed Mezzotint of a Boy and Rabbit after Henry Raeburn
This lot is a framed mezzotint depicting a young boy seated beside a white rabbit, by the Scottish portrait artist Sir Henry Raeburn. The boy wears a brimmed hat and a white ruffled shirt, with tan trousers, and rests one hand on the animal against a dark, cloudy backdrop. The print is set within a gilt wooden frame with a moulded profile, and the image is presented on a cream inner mount beneath a yellow outer mount.
Framed Print with Age-Related Character
The print is offered in its present framed state, and no full restoration or conservation assessment has been carried out. The surface shows softened tones consistent with age, and there are some minor marks to the mounts. The gilt frame retains its decorative corner and centre mouldings. Collectors of Raeburn’s work, mezzotint portraiture and decorative framed prints of the period may find this an appealing example of a classic British portrait subject.
