Imai Thunderbirds Tracy Island Secret Base of International Rescue Set
This lot is an Imai Thunderbirds Tracy Island Secret Base of International Rescue set, presented in its original illustrated box. The set is based on the British television series Thunderbirds and centres on the secluded island headquarters of International Rescue. The box artwork depicts the island in a dramatic scene, with the Thunderbird craft in flight, the island’s cliffs and buildings, and the surrounding sea. The lid states that the set is complete with models of five Thunderbird craft. The moulded island base is a textured landscape with palm trees, a central rock formation, a pool, a building with a red-roofed structure, and a launch area, providing a clear sense of the island’s layout as depicted on the packaging.
Condition and Collectability
The box shows visible wear, including creasing and a tear to the upper left area of the lid, with edge marks and general handling wear to the card. The moulded island and its surface details appear in generally good order, and the interior tray sits within the box. The contents are offered as found, and prospective buyers are advised to examine the lot carefully before bidding. The combination of the Imai branding, the Thunderbirds television connection and the original box artwork is likely to appeal to collectors of vintage Thunderbirds merchandise and to enthusiasts of 1960s British science fiction toys.
