Imperial German NCO Dress Bayonet
This is an Imperial German NCO dress bayonet, likely a private purchase example. The bayonet features a polished steel blade and a dark wood grip. These bayonets were carried as part of the formal uniform of non-commissioned officers during the German Empire, and were intended for parade and dress wear rather than combat. The quality of construction and materials often varied depending on the manufacturer and whether it was a private purchase item.
Condition and Collectibility
This bayonet shows signs of age and wear consistent with its age. The blade retains some polish, but exhibits some patina and minor imperfections. The wood grip is intact, but may show some wear or minor damage. This bayonet would be of interest to collectors of Imperial German military items, particularly those specializing in edged weapons or NCO equipment. It represents a tangible piece of German military history and a fascinating example of early 20th-century craftsmanship.
