Vintage Imperial Good Companion 3 Electric Typewriter

This lot is a vintage Imperial Good Companion 3 electric typewriter, offered with its hard carry case. The machine has a cream and grey plastic body, a black keyboard with white lettering, and the “Imperial” and “Good Companion 3” branding visible across the front of the carriage. The keyboard includes dedicated keys for margin release, power tab, shift lock, half space, power return, correction and backspace, with power shift keys at either end of the lower row. A carriage return and a sprung paper bail are fitted above the platen, and a mains lead is attached to the rear. The typewriter sits in a black moulded case with a fitted foam insert and recessed cut-outs for the machine and its accessories.

Condition and Presentation

The typewriter and case are presented together, with the machine resting in its fitted case with the lid open. The keys, body and carriage appear to be in good visible order, and the case shows only light surface marks consistent with age and use. The mains cable is present. The machine has not been tested and no statement is made regarding its operation or completeness. The Imperial Good Companion 3 is a sought-after model among collectors of mid-twentieth century office machines and retro typewriters, and the presence of the original carry case adds to its appeal for those seeking a display piece or a practical vintage writing machine.
