Kukri Knife Pair

This lot features two large Indian kukri knives, traditional curved blades originating from Nepal and India. Each knife exhibits a distinctive recurve, characteristic of kukris, and features a wooden handle, likely rosewood, secured with rivets. The blades appear to be hand-forged, displaying variations in the steel and a robust construction. These knives are designed for both utility and combat, historically used by Gurkha soldiers and for everyday tasks in rural areas.

Condition and Collectibility

These kukri knives show signs of age and use, with patina and minor imperfections to the blades and handles. While not pristine, these characteristics add to their authenticity and appeal for collectors of ethnographic arms and armour. The knives are presented as found, and their condition reflects a history of use and handling. They would be a valuable addition to a collection of historical weaponry or a display of cultural artifacts.
