Infantry Training Manual – Skill at Arms
This is a restricted British Army Infantry Training Manual, Volume III, focusing on “Skill at Arms” with a specific emphasis on section and platoon weapons. Published in 1976, this pamphlet (No. 17 Part 1) details the General Purpose Machine Gun and its sustained fire role. The manual provides detailed instructions and diagrams relating to the operation, maintenance, and tactical employment of this key weapon system within an infantry section or platoon.
Condition and Collectibility
This manual shows signs of age and use, consistent with its likely service history. The pages are discoloured and show wear, but the text and diagrams remain largely legible. This manual is a fascinating piece of military history, offering insight into the training and doctrine of the British Army in the 1970s. It would be of interest to military collectors, historians, and those with an interest in small arms and infantry tactics.
