Vintage Irvine 40 Glow Engine with Silencer
This lot comprises a vintage glow-fuel model engine by Irvine, bearing the “40” model designation as stated in the catalogue description. The engine carries “Made in England” markings to its casing, and the Irvine name is visible on the silencer housing. Features include a finned cylinder head, a carburettor with needle valve, a glow plug, and a propeller drive washer and nut. The lot is offered with a silencer, and a second silencer-style housing is included in the photographs.
Condition and Collector Appeal
The engine and its accompanying silencer housings show age-related wear, including dulling to the aluminium surfaces, surface marks and general handling marks. The engine has not been run or tested, and its operation is not guaranteed. The items appear to retain their original silencer components and fittings, which adds to their interest for collectors.
