Italian Metal Chess Set with Figural Pieces and Board
This lot comprises a set of Italian made metal chess pieces with a matching chess board. The set is offered as a collectable chess set suited to display or play.
The pieces are cast in metal and finished in brass tones and a dark patinated colour, with the two sides distinguished by their contrasting finishes. The figures are stylised and sculptural, with abstract and figurative forms rather than traditional turned designs. The board has a metal frame and alternating brass-tone and dark squares, with some squares bearing engraved decorative motifs.
Condition, Originality and Collector Appeal
The set is sold with one foot missing, as noted in the description. The metal surfaces show general signs of age and handling, including wear to the finish and minor marks consistent with use. The pieces and board appear to be in their original form, and the stylised figurative design gives the set appeal to collectors of Italian metalwork and vintage chess sets.

Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.
#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
