Antique Japanese Lacquer Jewellery Cabinet

This is a charming miniature Japanese lacquer jewellery cabinet, a type known as a Tansu. Dating to the late 19th century, this small cabinet features three drawers adorned with intricate floral and geometric designs in shades of red, black, and gold. The drawers each have ornate metal pulls, and the cabinet itself is constructed with a sturdy wooden frame and detailed brass edging. It is believed to have originally served as a jewellery box, and also as a holder for matchboxes.

Condition and Collectibility

The cabinet shows signs of age and wear consistent with its antique status. There are areas of surface wear to the lacquer, and some minor imperfections in the metalwork.
