Japanese Porcelain Sake and Tea Set
This boxed Japanese porcelain sake and tea set is offered as a single lot. The set appears to comprise a side-handled teapot with cover, two flask-form vessels, five larger cups and five smaller cups, all presented together in a red card box with a cream satin lining. Pieces of this type are commonly used for serving tea or sake at the table.
Condition and Presentation
The pieces are finished in a deep cobalt blue glaze with gilt-highlighted decoration throughout, including fan motifs, floral sprays and scenes of pavilions and figures. The teapot and vessels show a glossy surface with the decoration clearly defined. The presentation box shows some handling wear to its edges and corners. No obvious chips or cracks are visible on the ceramics. Coordinated sets of this kind with original box presentation may appeal to collectors of Japanese ceramics and to buyers seeking a decorative boxed gift.
