A Vintage Kershaw Eight-20 King Penguin Camera
The Kershaw Eight-20 King Penguin is a vintage folding camera offered here as a collectable example of mid-twentieth-century photographic design. The camera is finished in a dark grained covering and folds down into a compact body. When opened, a bellows extends forward to a front lens panel carrying the maker’s cream-coloured lens ring, which is marked with the Kershaw name, the Eight-20 model designation and the King Penguin name. Chrome struts support the extending front standard, and a small chrome-framed viewfinder sits on the top of the body. The model designation Eight-20 is clearly stated on the lens ring and identifies this as the Kershaw Eight-20 model.
Condition and Collectable Appeal
This example shows the expected signs of age and handling. The leatherette covering has general wear, with scuffing and marks visible on the body, and the leather carrying strap is worn. The bellows and chrome fittings are visible in the photographs, and the lens panel and its markings are clearly legible. As this is a vintage item, it has been sold with no guarantee of working order or completeness, and interested bidders are encouraged to examine it carefully before bidding. Its period styling, recognisable Kershaw branding and folding form make it appealing to camera collectors, vintage photography enthusiasts and those seeking an attractive display piece for a shelf or cabinet.
