A Large Antique Doll with National Dress Doll
This lot comprises a large antique doll and a smaller doll in national dress. The larger doll has a moulded head with a painted face, including a small red mouth and dark-outlined eyes, and a bald crown. It is dressed in a white lace gown with a high collar, ruffled cuffs and a scalloped hem, with the lace worked in a floral and openwork pattern. The smaller doll is dressed in traditional costume, wearing a woven straw hat, a dark green shawl over a multicoloured embroidered top, and a black skirt with red and yellow striped trim. Its face and hands are modelled and painted.
Age-Related Wear and Collector Appeal
Both dolls show signs of age, and the lace gown has some marks and soiling consistent with its years. The larger doll’s face shows light surface wear. Original costume pieces such as the lace gown and the national dress outfit may appeal to collectors of early dolls, costume dolls and textile-based collectables. Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.
#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
