Lusitania Propaganda Medal
This is a satirical medal commemorating the sinking of the RMS Lusitania by a German U-boat on May 7th, 1915. The medal is crafted from a base metal with a bronze tone, depicting a sinking ship amidst waves. German text encircles the image, reading “KEINE BANNON WARE” (No contraband goods) and “DER GROSSDAMPFER LUSITANIA DURCH EIN DEUTSCHES TAUCHBOOT VERSENKT 5 MAY 1915” (The steamship Lusitania sunk by a German submarine 5 May 1915). This piece represents a clear example of German propaganda aimed at justifying the sinking by claiming the Lusitania was carrying contraband.

We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. #### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
