Gilt Framed Watercolour by Marion Townsend
This gilt framed watercolour by Marion Townsend depicts a country valley village scene. It is presented ready to hang, offering a decorative landscape piece for a range of interiors.
Style, Composition and Condition
The watercolour shows a village nestled among trees in a valley, with rolling hills rising behind it. Loose, expressive brushwork defines the scattered white-roofed buildings, the deep green foliage and the pale, warm ground in the foreground, with a stream winding through the lower part of the scene. The artwork sits within a cream mount with a fine gold keyline, enclosed by a broad gilt frame with a rounded profile. The signature is visible in the lower right corner of the painting. Specific details of the condition of the frame, mount and painting have not been recorded, so prospective buyers are encouraged to make an enquiry before bidding. The piece will appeal to collectors of British and European landscape watercolours and to buyers seeking a framed countryside scene.
