Mary Bent 1960s Batik Still Life of Flowers in a Pot
This framed still life painting by Mary Bent dates from the 1960s and depicts a cluster of flowers rising from a shallow pot or bowl. The work is painted on batik and features loose, expressive brushwork in shades of coral, orange, mauve and ochre, with dark outlines describing the blooms and stems. A scalloped, dotted border with yellow accents runs along the sides of the composition. The painting is set in a timber-effect orange frame.
Condition and Collector Appeal
The painting is presented in its timber-effect frame. Prospective buyers are welcome to contact the auction house for further information on the condition of the work before the sale. The piece is offered as a 1960s painting by Mary Bent, and its warm palette and painterly handling will appeal to collectors of mid-century British floral art and vintage batik.
