Moore & Wright Outside Micrometer and Depth Micrometer

This lot comprises a Moore & Wright outside micrometer and a Moore & Wright depth micrometer, each presented in its own case. The outside micrometer is a traditional hand-held measuring instrument with a fixed frame, a graduated barrel and a knurled thimble, and it carries the Moore & Wright name engraved on the frame. The depth micrometer is fitted with a flat T-shaped base and a knurled head, and is accompanied by three extension rods and two spanner-type wrenches for adjusting the rods. Both instruments are housed in their respective cases, one a black hard case with a green felt-style lining and the other a black case with a dark interior, both bearing the M&W logo.

Condition and Collector Interest

The items show general signs of age and use, including light marks and surface wear to the cases and the lining of the depth micrometer case. The metal components show some handling marks consistent with their age. No further assurances can be given as to their function or completeness, and prospective buyers are advised to inspect the lot carefully before bidding. Moore & Wright is a well-known name in British precision measuring tools, and the pairing of an outside micrometer and a depth micrometer with their original cases and accessories may appeal to collectors of engineering tools, as well as to those who enjoy using or displaying traditional workshop instruments.
