Georgian Mercury Barometer by N Brown & Co

This is a striking Georgian mercury stick barometer, crafted by N Brown & Co. The barometer features a beautifully inlaid mahogany case in the Sheraton style, typical of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The silvered dial displays both Fahrenheit and Celsius scales, and the mercury tube is protected by a brass cover. The elegant design and quality craftsmanship make this a desirable piece for collectors of scientific instruments and antique furniture.

Condition and Collector Appeal

The barometer shows signs consistent with age and use, including some minor wear to the mahogany and potential mercury level fluctuations. While the item is not assessed for functionality, it presents well as a decorative and historical object. This barometer would be a valuable addition to a collection of antique scientific instruments, or a statement piece for a period home.
